Most of the site's figures come from Statistics Finland's StatFin database. The table id is the same one that finds the table in the database itself.

StatFin vaerak/11ra2014–2025
StatFin vaerak/11rt1990–2025
Split into first and second generation, i.e. born abroad and born in Finland.
StatFin vaerak/11rt, 11rg, 11rk2025
Citizenship is not published by background country, so the split is derived as the difference between the background population and the citizens of the same country. Only countries where the derivation passes four tests are included.
StatFin vaerak/11rt1990–2025
StatFin vaerak/11rl1990–2025
StatFin rpk/13z42010–2025
Separates the Finland-born children of foreign-born parents into their own group. Citizenship-based crime statistics cannot, because the second generation is almost always a Finnish citizen.
Statistics Finland, progress of studies (opku/13wj) and migration (muutl/11a8)läpäisy 2014–2024, muuttoliike 1990–2025
Two of the few tables where the Finland-born foreign-background generation is a group of its own. The integration indicators fold it into the native population, as do the labour force survey, the employment statistics and the election statistics.
Statistics Finland, integration indicators (117e, 11dx, 155v)1995–2024, kysely 2022
Register-based employment and NEET shares plus perceived discrimination from the 2022 survey. The survey part is the only data on the site that breaks results down by the reason for entry.

maakoto/11w31990–2023
StatFin rpk/13ex, vaerak/11ra1990–2025
The municipality where the offence occurred, not the suspect's home municipality.
StatFin vaerak/11rv2025
Both generations: a person born in Finland counts under their parents' background country. The file carries the 15 largest background countries per municipality, plus the table's own continent totals, which cover the municipality's foreign-background population in full.
StatFin rpk/13je, vaerak/11rg2000–2025
A suspect is not a convict. The figures count suspects permanently resident in Finland, over the resident population of the same nationality. All suspects, visitors included, are a separate dataset.
StatFin rpk/13je, vaerak/11rg2000–2025
Suspects who do not live in Finland are included, but the denominator is the population resident in Finland. The rate therefore rises most for nationalities many of whose suspects only visit: in 2025, 86 % of Belarusian and 69 % of Romanian suspects did not live in Finland.
StatFin rpk/13yy, vaerak/11rg2010–2025
StatFin syyttr/15hh, vaerak/11rg2009–2024
District courts plus penalty orders and fines, permanent residents only. The table publishes nine foreign countries separately and the other citizenships as region groups.
Experimental statistics tyokoke/13j82019–2023
An experimental statistic: the method may change and figures may be revised retroactively.
StatFin tyokay/115t, vaerak/11rs2010–2024
Not an employment rate: the numerator counts employed people of all ages against a 20–64 denominator, because the source table has no age dimension. The level is therefore systematically too high, but comparable between groups.
StatFin synt/12dp, vaerak/11rt, computed on this site2000–2024
Statistics Finland does not publish fertility by background country. The rate is computed in five-year age bands from births and women of the same background.
StatFin tyokay/115e, tjt/14ya, tyti/15cm2010–2026
The register series cover 2014–2024, low income 2010–2024 and labour force survey unemployment 2015–2026 by quarter.
StatFin tjt/14ya1995–2024
Used for the knowledge base's income section: median income, at-risk-of-poverty rate and the decile split.
StatFin tyonv/12tg, 12tf2009–2026
Employment service statistics, not the labour force survey: only people registered as jobseekers are included, and the figure concerns foreign citizens. The matching rate for Finnish citizens is derived here by subtracting the foreign counts from the totals, because Statistics Finland does not publish it separately.
Paavo 12f72013–2024
Paavo's year is the statistical reference year, a couple of years older than the publication year.
Paavo 12f72013–2024
StatFin vaerak/11s2, 11rf2003–2025
Statistics Finland INSPIRE, GovernmentalService_Education2026
StatFin evaa/13sw, evaa/13sv1983–2023
Each election year uses that year's municipal division. Municipalities have merged heavily, so early years are not directly comparable with today's municipalities. Turnout comes from table 13sv, and the municipal figures count only voters registered in that municipality, not Finnish citizens living abroad, which is why the whole-country figure is lower than the municipal ones.
Statistics Finland, StatFin vaerak/11rl (all languages)1990–2025
The denominator for shares. The same table as the language data but with all languages together, that is the whole population, so the foreign-language share can be worked out for every year.
Statistics Finland, population structure 11rc and 11ra, the 2024 population projection (14wx, 14x1, 128t, 139e) and migration (11a7, 11ad)1990–2070
The same projection twice: with its own net-migration assumption (52,000 people in 2024, 45,000 in 2025 and 40,000 a year after that) and as a self-sufficiency projection with no migration. The difference is the authority's own answer to what migration does to the age structure, not this site's calculation. The regional tables end in 2045, the whole-country table runs to 2070.
